Our event may be a little different
than most. Do you do the same thing all
the time?
EVERY event is different! And
yours will be unique and have its own personality. We
are happy to work with you in advance and on the day
of the event to tailor our music to your desires and
to what is called for at the time. Essentially, we pay close attention
to
the flow of the event. We can make the dance floor come alive as well as calm it down occasionally to give
folks a chance for a slow dance or two. We can also
mix up the styles of music among the rock, R&B, disco,
beach music, ballads, etc. so
so we can cover a wide range of music. We can also do some 2-3
song medleys to give your guests a chance to really get
into it for a while!
Question list
Can you "emcee" the event?
Yes, we can and often do. We
are happy to work with you in advance to discuss the
order and timing of the elements of
your event. For example we will introduce the bride and
groom and the wedding party, announce the toasts, cake
cutting, etc and generally help to keep the party moving
along.
Question list
Can I make requests?
First, we appreciate knowing which
songs (or types of songs) on the song
list you particularly like (or hate!!). While
you don't need to put together a set list for us, it
can be helpful if you let us know your preferences
in general.
Also, if there are songs that you particularly
want for the first dances (Bride/Groom, Bride/Father,
Groom/Mother), we can usually commit to learning them
provided you make the request 60 days before the event. After
this time we will do our best to fulfill a request, but
can't promise you that until we know what it is.
Question list
Do we determine the set lists?
For us, it's ideal if you would give
us your general stylistic preferences and maybe a handful
of your favorite artists or songs (e.g. we love rock
and R&B, not crazy about disco, love Stevie, Love
Shack's my favorite, NO Electric Slide!). This
way we can tailor our performance around the kinds
of music that you like, but we still have the flexibility
to create a flow that is responsive and tailored to
the people in the room throughout the course of the
evening.
Question list
Can you add musicians?
Yes! The most common
additions are one or more brass instruments, such as
saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Having the brass
adds a rich depth and class to our sound, and if we
have two or more brass players, it opens up our repertoire
to include songs from groups like Chicago and Earth,
Wind and Fire.
We also occasionally add a percussionist,
usually for events where we'll be playing a higher proportion
of Latino music.
Question list
Will we get all of the musicians
that are on your site?
We do our best to schedule the musicians
that are listed here on the site, and
if we schedule far enough in advance, there is
a good chance that we can have these musicians for
your date. However, due to the nature of the
music business these days, it's a first-come, first-served situation. The
good news about that is that we have a healthy list of outstanding local musicians with whom we have lots of experience who can fill in
without missing a beat.
Question list
If you play too loud, do I have any
recourse?
Absolutely. The client has
complete control over the volume. If, at any
time, the music is too soft or too loud, simply come
up and ask us to change it and we will.
Question list
What do you wear?
The most common options we offer are:
1) formal – tuxedos, 2) dress – all black,
black slacks and a black dress shirt, 3) business casual – nice
slacks and button-down shirt. You can make this
decision at contract time or later if you're unsure.
Question list
Our audience
will include quite a few Latinos. Can you play Latino music?
Although we are considered a "Dance-Cover Band," we can build in throughout an event a healthy mix of
Latin jazz, Salsas, Mambos, Sambas, and other Latin
styles. On those occasions we hire Whitney
Moore, a female singer fluent in Spanish and with considerable
experience singing several styles of music that
have emerged from Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico and South
America.
Question list
How can I book you?
We do all our booking through Gigmasters. If
you would like to request a bid from us, please go
to our page there and fill out the short form. Generally, I respond to your inquiry within 24 hours.
Question list
Can't I just hire you directly without
going through Gigmasters and paying their fee?
Our policy is to do all of our booking
through Gigmasters. There's a 5% fee, but we
think it's worth it for you
for you . When you've booked us at Gigmasters, you will have a public forum for giving feedback on the gig. Since our Gigmasters rating goes up when we get those 5 star reviews, we'll do our very best to earn one from you.
Question list
Do you use a separate contract than
the one on Gigmasters?
Yes, we send you a sample contract
at the time of the bid so that you can see the general agreements. It is intended
to serve as a way of helping you and us to feel as
secure as possible about the fundamentals of our business
arrangement. If you have any questions or concerns
about any aspects of the contract I would be happy
to discuss those with you.
Question list
How do you arrange payments?
You can submit the initial retainer
(1/3 of the total) online at Gigmasters or by mailing
a check. The balance is due at your event.
